The story of Jean Valjean, a French peasant, and his desire for redemption after serving nineteen years in jail for having stolen a loaf of bread. His future is threatened by his nemesis, chilling prison guard Javert, who is determined to bring him to justice again and again.
Such a beautiful redemption story. And this PBS Masterpiece production is top quality.
For those of a more sensitive nature, there is a lot of grit in this story. No foul language. A brief instance of rear male nudity. But sometimes the light shines the brightest when contrasted with the darkness and we feel you will be touched and blessed by this redemption story.
